lucas's Blog chapter 2

Since the begining of the internet age in the early 70's people have been working on ways to improve and make it more easily accesible. So far i believe that they have succeded, i can go online and search anything i want to just by opening my cell phone as apposed to having to be at home on my desktop or laptop. Communication is so much easier now, when telephones were first introduced to us phone numbers were singal numbers and you had to wait for your neighbor to stop using the phone so you could use it. Now we obviously have cell phones with calling, texting, bbming and  instant messaging.
Information is so easily obtainable now on the internet, all i have to do is type in a topic to any search engine and i will get a bunch of options. This happens in about 5 seconds the internet is generally very quick, it caters to peoples demand for information very fast. Blog's are a great source of information or peoples opinions, anybody can start a blog, obviously, for any topic there is a blog for it, sports, music, movies, restaraunts, politics anything you can think of.
Social Networking such as Myspace, Facebook, or Twitter are all generally new to the internet scene but they have made quite a splash. On facebook i can talk to anybody in the world and get to know them without coming in contact with the person. Facebook has members ranging from all ages its not only a "kid" thing or fad.

Lucas's Blog

The way i see it, media controls major decisions we make like who we vote for, for president or minor decisions like the restaraunts peopl eat at or the movies we see. Media is everywhere we look information is everywhere we look its on billboards, radios or even in the palm of your hand (cell phones). People are very easily influenced by the media whether it be a food/movie critic or voting for their president based on how many "friends" they have on Facebook.

Communication is so easy in so many different ways with social networking sites such as Facebook, Twitter, Myspace or cell phones with text messaging, BBMing or an old fashioned thing called a phone call information can be spread very quickly. It really makes me think what did i do with out a cell phone? now im not one of those people who cant live without checking there phone every minute but it makes everyday life alot easier with such easy access to so many things. Companys are now issueing imployees Blacberrys or another type of "smart phone" to make their work less stresfull. With a "smart phone" its like having a desk top computer or a lap top in your pocket.

In my opinion this most recent generation of people arent as social and have less "people skills" than in the past mainly because now a days you can get to know someone on a very personal level without ever coming in contact with the person. This is not a good thing, you dont learn how to hold a conversation thrue texting or online chats, this hurts when you are in a job interview or on a first date. Current technology is great but has its pros and cons, my suggestion is to use in moderation so you can keep up on your people skills.
