Lucas's Blog

The way i see it, media controls major decisions we make like who we vote for, for president or minor decisions like the restaraunts peopl eat at or the movies we see. Media is everywhere we look information is everywhere we look its on billboards, radios or even in the palm of your hand (cell phones). People are very easily influenced by the media whether it be a food/movie critic or voting for their president based on how many "friends" they have on Facebook.

Communication is so easy in so many different ways with social networking sites such as Facebook, Twitter, Myspace or cell phones with text messaging, BBMing or an old fashioned thing called a phone call information can be spread very quickly. It really makes me think what did i do with out a cell phone? now im not one of those people who cant live without checking there phone every minute but it makes everyday life alot easier with such easy access to so many things. Companys are now issueing imployees Blacberrys or another type of "smart phone" to make their work less stresfull. With a "smart phone" its like having a desk top computer or a lap top in your pocket.

In my opinion this most recent generation of people arent as social and have less "people skills" than in the past mainly because now a days you can get to know someone on a very personal level without ever coming in contact with the person. This is not a good thing, you dont learn how to hold a conversation thrue texting or online chats, this hurts when you are in a job interview or on a first date. Current technology is great but has its pros and cons, my suggestion is to use in moderation so you can keep up on your people skills.
